Rules

League Structure

All games are to be played in person. This is an in-person league. Tabletop Simulator (TTS) can be used for a game if the following circumstances are all met:

  • Both players agree without coercion
  • Players get approval for this from their divisional exec member.

The Season is basically a Grand Tournament. Each player will play 5 rounds, but each pairing will have 3 weeks to play their game at a time and place to be arranged by the players. The scores will be reported either to the executive member or straight onto an app like BCP, or through a spreadsheet (this will be different per division).  Pairings will be done per round, just like at a tournament. At the end of the Season, the top players in each division will be invited to participate in an invitation tournament to play against each other (TBD).

The rounds will be scored using the most recent GW player pack release before the start of the first round of the league (with or without the 10 points for painting, see below), and placings determined as standard.

Warhammer games can take a long time to play and we must respect everyone’s time. If your opponent asks to play on a clock you must be able to accomodate them. If a clock is used, the total time allocated for a game should be 3 hours (1hr 30min per player). In good sprit of the game additional time of 15 minutes per player can be allocated when playing new players to the game

For any rulings or situations where a game judge is needed the executive member of your region is considered to be the judge. The rulings made by the executive member are final.

List Lock Rules

The following are rules to govern when lists are locked in for the subsequent rounds.

  • If a player fails to submit a new list before the list submission deadline.
  • All lists used in round 4 are locked in for round 5. (Unless otherwise advised by your local league executive)

Models & Painting

Models should aim to be completely assembled and WYSIWYG.  However, in the spirit of encouraging participation and growth of the hobby, just make sure your opponent has no issues with any conversions/proxies that you might be using in your game.  If there are any issues, speak to your executive member for your region.

The 10 points for painting will be auto awarded by both players regardless of the painting level of the models. This is in the interest of making the league as welcoming and easy as possible for all participants to participate.

Dataslate and Codex Release

All dataslates, points adjustments and codex releases come into effect the next round. Codex FAQs will apply right away once released. List updates and the effects of list lock as a result of rules/points/codex changes will be ruled by the local league executive.

Sportsmanship

All players are expected to play with good conduct and sportsmanship.  While we do not have a specific code of conduct, players can use the ITC Code of Conduct as a guideline of expectations.  All sportsmanship and conduct issues will be adjudicated by the exec. The executive members reserve the right to disqualify any player at any time from games, rounds, or from the entire league depending on the severity of the infraction.

Recommended League Terrain

Tables & Terrain – Players are expected to organize their own venues to get their games played. This may be at a mutually convenient place like a local game store, or at someone’s house.

To ensure a balanced and fair gaming experience it is recommended that players follow the WTC’s Terrain Guidelines. Each mission has a recommended terrain layout if players cannot decide.

If playing without official WTC-style terrain, players should try and ensure there is a good playing surface with an appropriate amount of terrain available for use.  If you are unsure of how much terrain you should have and of what type, you can refer to the WTC Terrain Guidelines for medium terrain density. Games Workshop tournament terrain guidelines are also an acceptable guideline for terrain.

These guides will give you a guide of what you’re aiming for. Having more terrain is better than having too little and you should aim for 8-10 ruins with bases and then other terrain as appropriate

Other Guidelines

No Shows – Players are expected to show up for their matches as mutually arranged.  However things do happen. If there are issues getting matches arranged, it is up to the players to inform their exec member WITH ENOUGH TIME to do something about it.  Malicious no-shows or repeated offenses may mean an automatic loss for the round (opponent will get full points) and/or further disciplinary actions.

Ruling for unplayed games – If both players can’t play during the allotted 3 week round time frame the round will be scored as a 0-0 lose for both players. The executive member reserves the authority to score a 70-0 forfeit if it is determined that the 1 player was willing and able to play and the other was not. This decision is at the discretion of the executive members.
